About Rayon

Rayon is building two things: a property and casualty insurance brokerage for the trade contractors who build data centers, energy and other physical infrastructure (Rayon Insurance), and a servicing desk for commercial insurance agencies (Rayon Ops). The company is based in Chicago, Illinois.

What Rayon does today

Rayon Insurance is not yet a licensed insurance producer or agency in any state. Until it is, it does not recommend, quote, bind or place coverage. It reads the insurance exhibit in a contractor’s subcontract against the contractor’s policy and shows where the two disagree, and it publishes the library of 28 articles on this site.

How the library is written and checked

  • Each article answers one question and gives the answer in its first paragraph.
  • Every factual claim comes from a policy form, a statute, a regulator or another published source that was opened and read on the day the article was written. The sources are listed at the end of the article and cited at the sentence they support.
  • Articles are researched and drafted with software assistance, then checked claim by claim against their sources. A claim that could not be matched to a source is taken out or is not given a citation.
  • We do not publish a number, a case, a statute or a quotation that has no source.
  • Form numbers and edition dates are given as printed on the form. Your policy may carry a different edition or a carrier’s own wording, and the policy controls.
  • Each article shows the date it was last reviewed. When a form, a statute or a source changes, the article is revised and the date moves.

Corrections

If an article is wrong, out of date or unclear, write to siddansh@rayoninsure.com with the page address and the sentence. We check it against the source and fix the article.
